Insanities about ICICI Bank
Insanities about ICICI Bank
The latest I come to know about my favorite bank. If you drop in cash for deposit in the cheque box which is generally forbidden by the company, they will fine you Rs. 100! This was found written on the notice board of the ATM Machine. Nothing was mentioned regarding whether the money would be deposited or not after the fine is applied.

ICICI NRI Customer Service SUCKS!!!!
1. In the first place, the online access to my ICICI NRI account was locked/disabled even though I used the login/password that was provided to me.
2. I tried my best to reach the support on the toll-free number (1-866-ICICI-4U). Everytime it takes more than 5 minutes to talk to a representative. And they just say that they will not be able to service on the phone, and ask me to mail to nri@icicibank.com.
3. I live in US and have been waiting to access my account for more than 10 days, and after 10days and many email exchanges, I am told that the passwords would be sent via postal mail to my Indian address, and not via email !!!!!!!. This just doesn’t make sense to me, as there is no one to access my account in India, and I cannot ask someone to go open my mail and send me the password!!!
4. Dealing with ICICI bank is driving me nuts. And I am seriously thinking, why I should do business with ICICI bank.
5. The following policies/features are JUST UNACCEPTABLE to me. I have few bank and financial accounts for many years now, and I never had to spend more than 15minutes to get any issue resolved.
5.1. No FULL-SUPPORT via telephone, especially to activate disabled accounts.
5.2. Email based support with 24-48 hour response time. And this is misleading, as 2 days is taken to respond, not resolve issue!!!!! My issue is not resolved even after 10 days, and each 2 days is taken to just respond with counter questions/answers.
5.3 The responses from the Customer Service representatives is just ambigious (I was asked to “answer below 4 questions”, when I actually saw 6 questions listed below the statement!!!. I had tough time to correctly interpret each sentence).
5.4 There is no way to reach a higher official/manager via phone/email to express my anguish, and get my issue resolved.
5.5. The website is not user-friendly, and there are many broken links. And sometimes, the error messages are just ridiculous (I got the message : “Unknown error occured”, instead of the something like …. “The Social Security Number you entered does not match our records. Contact Customer Service”)

I agree with you. I had a strange experience with ICICI NRI services. It took 7 weeks for me to with draw $5000 which I have deposited in my own account. Itâ??s a shame on me to continue to talk to ICICI even after dealing with a bunch of unprofessional officers in NRI division, who strongly believe that their jobs are for life and they are privileged to play arrogant games with NRI deposits.
I thought ICICI bank is a private bank who can do better job for fee. I had a resident account with ICICI for the past 8 years and I decided to convert it NRI account. ICICI advised me to send a copy of passport, copy of US green card, copy of US bank statement, utility bill (address proof). I had sent all the required documents to the address given by ICICI bank. I have not heard any thing from ICICI for 2 months, then I called so called customer service number 1-866-ICICI-4U, they took my passport number date of birth and other details and told me that they canâ??t do any thing about it. Whatâ??s the heck with the customer service guys taking my personal details like passport number, date of birth and other details to tell me that they have no idea? One late night I got a sensible customer service representative who has advised me to send all the documents again to the same address to check my luck.
I am a poor optimistic Indian guy as many of you, sent out all the required documents again to the address given by NRI services, ICICI bank, Mumbai.
To make long story short, they got the mail but there was a problem which was recognized by brilliant ICICI NRI wing, the signature I made 8 years back was not exactly matched with the signature I made now. What a brilliant observation…! So I got a mail saying that they found the original signature in their records is slightly different from the signature I made now. Interestingly, they never told me what I need to do about it. After talking to couple of customer service professionals, I figured out that I need to send an application with an old signature which must match the original signature in their records and a new signature. I never understand the logic ICICI uses to create such situations. ICICI had my passport, US green card copy, utility bill for address proof and US bank statement showing banking activity and none of these things convinced ICICI that its me but the old signature which I made 8 years back while opening an account with ICICI.
Finally, I was frustrated to deal with the morons (if I say so I am not feeling guilty as they took hours and hours of my time for no reason and its exactly 10 months long story) I wrote a mail to CEO of ICICI to look in to the matter.
Oh GOD, that changed my fortune, finally, after 10 months of long struggle (battle) of converting existing resident account to NRO account with ICICI was successful. I canâ??t believe those great moments in my life. Now I am a NRO account holder with ICICI.

I would like to update you my very good experience with ICICI Bank.
I had an issue of non credit of cheque sent to Maratha Mandir , Mumbai Central address. I was not aware that the cheque is to be sent to lower parel address. Hence, it got delayed for the credit.
However, I was helped by Mr. Pradeep Nambiar who identified himself as customer service manager and helped me to get the credit as soon as possible. He informed me that the NRI service centre has been relocated to Lower Parel and he cordinated with the officials in his office and helped me to retrive my funds. He helped me personally and gave me a good and friendly service.
Once, the funds were credited, he called me at my Canada number and informed me about the same.
Despite of some of the negative comments regarding the ICICI Bank, I am in the opinion that ICICI has got a great energetic and synergetic official who can lead ICICI Bank to a great success. I am very much thankful to Mr.Pradeep Nambiar and wish him and ICICI Bank a great future.

I have been trying to start an NRI account for the past 8 months.Everytime we mail the so called requirements the bank manager pops up with something new.I had an earlier account with ICICI and the service seemed excellent so with this experience i decided to start another account.I am working in West Africa and unlike western countries we do not have a good postal service so everytime the documents are passed via someone travelling to India.Day by day matters are getting worse we have decided to open an account with a nationalised bank atleast i will have an account opened before i die which i think is impossible with your bank.It would be nice if the bank officials tell the customer at the very begining what all documents are to be produced.ICICI did have a good customer service but now i have to think twice before i say this.

I issued at check of 740,000 INR for my sister’s wedding and there was enough balance in account. But ICICI failed to honour the check and levied me 448 INR for check return charges.
Even after following up matter for over a week they failed to respond on this issue, for which there was no reason. Their call centre located in some poor locality in Bangalore responded to me saying there is no reason that check would bounce, since there was enough balance on day concerned. He (One mr. Rohit, supervisor at call centre) said he would get back to me within 24 hours, but so far there is no response.
On the day of WEDDING of my sister I had to frantically arrange money to save my prestige and function.
ICICI is no trustworthy and the people work there are nothing less than illiterate morons.
Even after talking to their HEAD who is located in Dubai Mr. Nimesh Shah and Amarjeet Singh Walia at Bombay, I found no solution. These people are just interested in piling up money and expansion without any service or reasonable approach. All that they need is money , money by any unethical means to pay to their herd of ill trained staffs who graduated yesterday from low profile colleges around the country who cannot even speak relevant to any technical matter.
THE GOOD PART OF BANK IS THEY ARE WELL TRAINED IN APOLOGISING EVEN WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT CUSTOMER IS ASKING AND AIRCONDITIONED BRANCHES, REST ALL SUCKS. I WONDER WHAT IF THIS BANK CLOSES OVER NIGHT AND RUNAWAY WITH ALL YOUR MONEY?
NRI’S JUST BEWARE OF ICICI AND KINDLY REFRAIN FROM USING ICICI SERVICES. I WOULD BE CLOSING DOWN ALL MY ACCOUNTS WITH THEM TO AVOID FURTHER LOSSES. I WOULD LAUNCH MOVEMENT TO CREATE AWARENESS AMONG NRI COMMUNITY TO STOP DAMAGE AND MISUSE OF OUR HARD EARNED MONEY.
THESE CROOKS ARE ALSO FAMOUS FOR LAUNDERING FOREIGN CURRENCY TO ILLEGAL ELEMENTS.
MY FOREGN CURRENCY WAS STALLED FOR 2 WEEKS IN 2005 WHICH WAS MISUSED IN GREY MARKET BY BANK ITSELF. FOR THIS LAPSE ICICI BANK WAS READY TO PAY ME 215 $ OUT OF WAY TO KEEP MY MOUTH SHUT.
BEWARE OF THIS FRAUD BANK WITH NO MOTIVE OF SERVING INDUSTRY.
THEY NEED TO CHANGE THEIR RHYME– “HUM HAI NA POCKET KAATNE KE LIYE
I WISH PEOPLE STOP USING THIS BANK AND WISH THIS BANK CLOSE DOWN SOON FOR EVER.

Comment by FUTURE — May 26, 2006 @ 06:54 am
I agree with most of the people above that ICICI bank really sucks.
I am a NRI in the UK and hold a NRO account with ICICI.
I was just trying to get a simple address change done to my account and its been a horrible experience.
They ask for a bunch of documents just for a simple change of address and also we have to mail them all the way to Mumbai Branch in India. This is unlike Citibank where you get the address changed by only writing a simple letter and mailing it to their London branch.
I mailed ICICI once with all the documents and I got a reply that my passport no was not as per their records and they wanted to see my passport copy and visa.
I mailed these again and now I get another reply from them saying that my signature does not match what is present in their records and I need to send further documentation to prove this.
I never changed my signature. I think their records system is all garbage and they dont have structured way of handling customer queries.
I am now fed up with them and have mailed them to close my
account permanently. I have to look for some other Bank for my NRI accounts.
Any suggestions as to which one could be good to open an account with? I know anything else would be better than ICICI.
Thanks

This is heights of Banking Experience with ICICI Bank…I was made to wait for 1 month just get a simple Internet Password after making so many calls wasting my money and time…Nonsense
I asked ICICI to send the Credit Card password to me but they dispatched it to somebody…After I asked these useless Customer service folks to resend it again…And believe me they did the same mistake…I wrote many mails to their Head -customer service but no use…They don’t even bother to reply… So I thought I will publish this wherever I get the chance…If somebody can guide how should I get these folks to the consumer court, will be very helpful…
Please avoid banking with ICICI…

I wrote a complaint years back, the official at ICICI Bank Numgambakkam Chennai refused to even touch the complaint letter(he might be afraid that his finger prints will come on the paper/ may not be an auspicious day to receive omplaints).
You call from US, you need to wait for hours till the phone gets diconnected. It looks like they pay their customer service representatives who keeps their customer for waiting for a long time.
ICICI is motto is ” Kick the Customer, he will be still there with you, at the most he will write some thing on the wall/on the net about ICICI”
Comment by Saravana — June 8, 2006 @ 06:20 pm
I recently discovered the ICICI can convert euros at dollar rates when you are not aware. most of the time they do not provide any details of the exchange rates in their statements.
so when you have an inward remittance in euros you might actually be getting only the dollar equivalents.
They also charge a QAB on the OD accounts..
Now, those of you have been trusting them so far.. cross check just these two aspects and i am sure you will be surprised to see how much you have lost…
I have closed down my accounts with them.

Sir,
There is a mad rat-race among the commercial banks to find clients for
Home Loans. They employ franchisees for this purpose who create a lot of
confusion and financial loss to the gullible customers.
I am working as software professional and was looking for buying a plot.
Two weeks back, two guys from Media Marketing Services Private Limited,
a franchisee of ICICI Home Finance Company Limited approached me. I told
them I wanted to buy a plot worth around Rs 4 lakhs. The guys gave me a
‘Home Loan’ application form. When I told them I wanted to buy a plot
and not a house, they said that the application form was the same for
both. I filled-in the form, gave away supporting documents and a cheque
for Rs 3929 as processing fee.
A few days later, they handed over a loan sanction letter (for Rs 7
lakhs, though I had asked for only Rs 4 lakhs) and asked me to give the
documents related to the proposed property for carrying out legal and
technical opinion. After this stage, started the problems. There was no
response from the franchisee/bank and after several attempts, I got
several contradicting responses. The customer care department of ICICI
gave a stunning reply stating that the bank had stopped sanctioning land
loans below Rs 10 lakhs five months back. If the bank had stopped
sanctioning property loans below Rs 10 lakhs, why did they collect my
application and why did they sanction the loan ‘in principle’? No
answers from anyone - the franchisee and the bank.
I asked for a refund of the administrative fee collected from me, but
the ICICI bank refuses citing the clause in application form which reads
“Administrative Fee non-refundable”. Legally the ICICI bank may not be
responsible for a refund, but what about the moral question? A friend of
mine who applied for the same loan along with me has also lost Rs 3648
in a similar way. Is it not tantamount to cheating or daylight robbery?
The bank is morally responsible for giving us a refund of the
administrative fee. Will they?

I everyday manage so many clients who r absolutely pissed off….the worst part being i am not even trained to handle their queries…..training is not an event in icici bank….it is a prerogative of the employee……all that the bank is focussing on is mkt share at the cost of employees n of course its poor customers…….i am urging u all not to even patronise this blood sucking bank…..

• Dear All,
ICICI bank is no way safe to keep saving in to our account .ICICI Bank Credit Card Division with their DSA and collection agent having a great association with bank it self to impose any offer policy without customer confirmation and will charge in your statement .till you contact customer care and clarify they will impose heavy interest charges.and soon you will get life threat from their agents, you will not be able to do any thing. If you refuge to pay they will find your saving account In icici bank and with the help of icici bank network and create forged request AUTO DEBIT FACILITY for payment and on-line they will transfer your saving money amount to credit card account. i mate around 100-125 persons every month .
So it is my request to all of the Existing ICICI Bank INDIA customer to Pl maintain bare minimum balance in your account and transfer your saving to other bank account which is safe .Like PNB,UTI BANK Etc.
Because you can not get any help from Police also as this type of fraud and cheating is not having any restriction and Law against them in India.
My advice to all - Avoid ICICI as far as possible. Many people predict that the bank would collapse in a few years from now. Have a account with any nationalized bank.
Personally, I have an account with SBI and keep a minimum amount in ICICI

Will they?

• Dear All,
ICICI bank is no way safe to keep saving in to our account .ICICI Bank Credit Card Division with their DSA and collection agent having a great association with bank it self to impose any offer policy without customer confirmation and will charge in your statement .till you contact customer care and clarify they will impose heavy interest charges.and soon you will get life threat from their agents, you will not be able to do any thing.

ICIC bank customer service care both phone and nri email service is the utter irritating customer service care in the world. The representatives are just dummies but they will make sure who the caller is by verifying their name, address etc but when it comes to their turn they have some readymade answers that they don’t have access or please write email. If you write email they will not make any attempt to read your email instead they will reply with a set of readymade questions applicable to your query after few working days and it takes at least 3-4 email exchanges and two weeks to get the work done. I’m now thinking about switching to another bank.

Abusive language used by ICICI bank official.
My wife met up with ‘Kapil Sharma’ of Jhandewalan Branch Delshi for some basic queries related to her accounts. It was sad to see that this officer used language like ” Aap mera dimag mat kharab kariye aur yaha se nikal jaayie’. This is just to let you know the attitute of these people towards customer.
I am in the process of taking apropriate action against this officer.

I called up the customer care to log a formal complain. They refused as my wife does not hold any account in her name. They do not take complaints of prospective customers (she was planning to open a demat account)
Really wonder If new customers are treated like this what happens to customers who trust this bank with their money.

I am using icici bank account from last 4 yrs. Earlier it was an salary A/c & now it has been changed as normal SB A/c by Icici. But it was not communicated to me from Icici bank till Oct 1st week. On 27th Sep Rs. 842.00 has been charged to my A/c for non maintenance of QAB for the Qtr ended June 06. I spoke to an customer care executive & explained about this; he understood the problem & reversed the charges on 9th Oct. The very next day again Rs. 842.00 has been deducted from my A/c towards the non maintenance of QAB for the Qtr ended Sep06. When I was not informed about the conversion of my salary A/c to a normal SB A/c till Oct 1st week, how can I maintain balance for the Qtr ended June06 / Sep06?
I left that company about 2 yrs back & no QAB has been charged to my A/c till Sep 27th 2006. Even I have not maintained the balance in the year 2005 also. This is purely Icici’s mistake, just for eye washing they are calling me everyday, with no conclusion.
I was trying to explain this to customer care executives thru phone & e-mail. But I didn’t get any responsible reply from them. Even I spoke to Mr. Gautham (Customer Service Manager, Hyderabad), he was kind enough at least to understand my problem. But on 18th Oct @ around 4.00 pm, I have received a call from another Customer Service Manager, Hyderabad (lady), the way she spoke to me was literally like a road side vegetable seller / Chennai Autowala. The language she used, kind of politeness, listening to my query, understanding the issue, knowledge about account information etc etc everything was truly unprofessional. I was wondering how a person from a bank like Icici can talk like that. I am holding 2 bank Accounts, 1 Demat Account, 1 Web trade account & 1 Credit Card account with Icici. I had no issues at all till Dec 2005. But from last 5 - 6 months, i am facing so many problems like this.
My kind advice to all, please dont go for Icici A/c either it may be SB / Demat / Webtrade / Credit Card.

SECURITY FLAW IN ICICI BANK. Here it is:
1. Call NRI service center toll free number.
2. They ask for verification: first name, last name, communication address, and birth date and fortunately your account number. At the most they ask you your passport number.
3. BINGO!! they assume you are the same guy.
People like your family, relatives, friends, neighbours, work collegues, etc can have easy access to these information. By the way this is general information about you and can be easily fetched with little effort.
NOW ICICI BANK MORONS EASILY AND SWEETLY WILL DISCLOSE ALL THE CONTENTS AND ANSWER QUESTIONS YOU ASK THEM…. SWEEEETTTTTT!!!

ICICI customer service is the worst I have found in UK so far.
I went to open an account on a Saturday morning to Manchester branch in UK. There were only 2 ICICI staff there; one of them was attending a customer while the other was happily chatting over his mobile phone in Hindi. After some time, he asked us to go to his table and we filled up the forms and wrote out cheque etc. Intermittently, he was talking on the handphone, nothing official. Is it proper to be chatting with someone else while attending to a customer? What sort of customer service is this?
Well, I signed up the forms for opening a current account and fixed deposit account. After more than 20 days, I emailed them asking what happened to my fixed deposit receipt. Lo, comes the reply. ‘You do not have a fixed deposit account with us’. The money, a considerable amount, was indeed deducted from my other UK bank account on the 4th day of my visit to the Manchester branch. I called the customer service number in desperation and the lady says ‘I am at a call center in India, I cannot help you, you better go to the branch’. I asked for the telephone number of the Manchester branch and she replied that she doesn’t have the number. What stupidity is this?
I should have gone to one of the high street bankers, which were indeed offering higher interest rates. But, I thought, being an NRI, having an account with an Indian bank will help.
Last week, my husband went to open an account at State Bank of India, Manchester.
Experience: A public sector bank with a speedy and efficient service. Everything done within 3 days.
Yet, here I am, biting my nails, wondering and worrying what happened to the money taken out by ICICI bank for the fixed deposit. No acknowledgement of the money they took from me. Does it take 20 days to process a fixed deposit? Just imagine, what hassles I will face when I go to take out the money.

I am on H1B visa and my wife is on Student Visa, First ICICI chat rep and Product Manager says that it is convertable, but customer service manager Mr Brijesh Pathak has different version, says that student cannot become joint account holder in NRO. I thought ICICI was sensable bank in India, but I am wrong. My situation is no different that Mr Srinivas dated Jan 18, 2006. I am facing the same exactly what Mr Srinivas faced.

ICICI Bank off late has been taking customer’s for a ride under the umbrella of its increased popularity without caring for customer. I had requested for a payment transfer from my savings account to another visa card on 2nd May 2007 and amount was deducted from my savings account at that very moment. They claim to have sent the money but the same has not reached beneficiary as of today the 4th June 2007. The mails replied by their customer service are incomplete and service quality is getting poorer ever. Refrain from using their card-2-card transfer otherwise you don’t know who is sitting over your money. Their call centre agents are no better than morons or simply robots sitting over and acting as a medium to transmit information what they see on computer. They in true sense are WYSIWYG.

My experience with ICICI bank is also not different.I am living in Dubai and we (myself+my wife)had NRI accounts with this bank and we had a really horrible experience with this bank last year. if i start explaining my experience, it will take more than five pages!. thank god we closed our accounts with them and also five of our colleges. there are many civilized banks in India giving much better service. we are now happy with UTI bank and HDFC bank.

Hello People: I agree with you comments about ICICI 100%. I reside in Canada & I made a mistake (for the view point of ICICI) of investing in house & move to my new house. I authorized my dad to submit the form for address change for the demat account with copy of my canada driver’s license (for address proof) and a copy of government issued ID card both of which are photo ids & he delivered it in person to the jamnagar branch. the woman who collected these from my dad was so ill mannered and treated him shabbily. so its not just when you call customer service that you should expect nastiness from ICICI. I believe that is their company policy. “Be nasty and worthless to your Customers”.
Am not sure, if any of you have noticed, when you call the customer service, & you pose them with a simple question, say you have called or emailed them earlier & requested for address change, they don’t advice the procedure for it. they simply accept it & letting you believe that your request has been processed. later, after 3-4 months comes a mail from ICICI, (lord know who phrases these mails!!!!!) saying something that goes like this..”proof of address is not available on the same”. and so they have rejected the request. mind you, we have submitted every thing they request, forms, copies of proof etc. what in the world does this sentence mean? adding to injury subsequently when you call them asking why the address has not been changed the customer service, the person at the other end, has no clue what so ever. so we have to spend precious 15 minutes of the international call, (they dont even provide toll free numbers to call) explaining the same issue over & over again. after all that, all the CS person can say is that I have to complete and submit a form for the address change. once they have said this they will repeat the same thing over & over again throughout the call. they sound like a broken record, instead of trying to understand and resolve the issue. I do not understand why our money should go towards paying such a useless customer service.if ICICI cannot afford to provide efficient customer service, they should not offer one.
it took 6 months to get my demat address changed & yesterday I get a nri bank statement addressed to my old address. apparently although the bank account & demat accounts are tied to each other neither departments apparently share information. they work in silos.
the most ridiculous thing i heard about this address change, one of their customer service persons in their mumbai branch says that we have send them the original drivers license & immigrant card!!!!! this service from their head office.
Yesterday, i called CS to ask why they led me to belive my NRI bank account address has been changed when infact it hadnt. the man at the other end did know anything as usual (apparently they don’t even track their customer calls & don’t even have a call ticket #). this man promised me that I can find a form the form in the nri website & i have no clue where it on the websie. i have scanned the website fully. he also promised me that copies of my utility bills/ drivers license is sufficient. lets c.
I am afraid to close my accounts with ICICI even though nothing would give me more pleasure because, i don’t trust them to return MY money in full.
If ICICI has succeeded in anything, they have in reaching the pinnacle of inefficiency. ICICI is an embarassment to our nation.

Friends,
I have no different experience than you. I completely agree with you all when it comes to NRI services, ICICI Bank sure sucks.
I have been trying to open an NRI account and its been more than 2 years and i have not received userid and password. I have called the customer services numberous times and after waiting for 10 min, someone attends to you talks politely and sweetly, but with NO results. They will tell the same story to complete the forms and send it to India office. After sending it two times, i got a letter from Mumbai office saying the signature does not match. What the heck? I’m sending all my credentials including Passport, Visa, Address Proofs etc and then comes signature. Wow!!!
Moreover, another day i get a call from their sales dept and they were pursuading me to open another NRI acct. Every sales guy want to offer me an acct, but no one wants to work on my complaints….
ICICI NRI SUCKS !! No doubts about it.
Comment by Yogesh Khurana — November 21, 2007 @ 03:31 pm
AS FAR AS NRI’S ARE CONCERNED THEY SHOULD STAY AWAY FROM THIS BANK LIKE POISON. TO-DAY I CLEANED UP MY ACCOUNTS WITH THIS BANK AFTER HAVING BEEN TAKEN FOR A RIDE FROM THE TIME I OPENED AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM THREE YEARS BACK. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ABSOLUTE ZERO WITH CALL CENTRE GUYS WITH NO CLUE OF BANKING. ANY PROBLEMS POSED WOULD GET THEIR STANDARD REPLIES. THE MANAGEMENT STAFF SITS BEHIND A CLOAK OF SECRECY AND CANNOT BE ACCESSED AT ALL. THE BANK STINKS!!! IT IS LIKE DEALING WITH A PAAN BIDI SHOP, THERE IS NO SEMBLENCE OF PROFESSIONAL BANKING. THANK GOD I AM OUT!!

Comment by Kanan Shah — December 24, 2007 @ 12:31 pm
I second the opinions here. First, they started a fee for the debit card which was free before, and increased the minimum balance. When I tried to close my account, they would not let me do it from here. The 1-800 number is a joke. I submitted a complete application for account closure in person. After 6 months they said they never received it. It took me 2 years and endless hours or frustration and long distance calls to get ICICI bank to close my NRE account. And during this time, they charged me Rs. 800 every month for insufficient funds in the account. So stay as far away as possible from their NRI services.

Dear Harshil Mehta/Nodal Officer/Head Service Quality,
I have come across such a deficiency of service at your branches which is not only violation to BANKING FAIR PRACTICES CODE but also RBI’s standard guidelines for all the banks.I have today visited 2 of your branches in Navi Mumbai Area requesting for opening “NO FRILLS ACCOUNT”. The kind of service/response/deficiency observed by me was beyond anybody’s imagination.
Scenario No.1.
Branch: ICICI Bank, Sector 12, Vashi, Navi Mumbai. (4.20pm – 4.40pm)
I was diverted to three Ladies Executives sitting on different counters; finally to be refused of opening any such account.Branch Manager was not present in the branch. When the incident was brought to the notice of Branch Operations Manager, the lady also refused point blank and told us to try luck at ICICI Bank.Ghatkoper or ICICI Bank Sector 2 Vashi .Also access to Banking Fair Practices Code was not made available on demand.
Scenario No.2
Branch: ICICI Bank, Sector-2, Opp.Bus Depot, Vashi, Navi Mumbai.
(4.40 pm to 5.45 pm)
The person whom I met first Mr.Bhushan C, like his earlier counterparts I met in Sector 12 Branch seem absolutely reluctant and too denied of having any such accounts. The Branch Manager intervening in the matter and deputing Shri Bharat Agarwal for assistance did not yield any results as Shri Bharat Instead of helping started doubting my genuinety as prospective customer of your bank, finally to be refused by him of possessing requisite documents for opening account and reverting back when same was available. Meeting Lady Branch Manager once again after the same resulted in nothing more than blank application form and a promise of calling back.
In view of above scenarios I have reached a conclusion that if such is the response to a well educated person like me what kind of social responsibility does your bank be showing towards strata of people for whom Honorary Reserve Bank of India has actually devised NO FRILLS ACCOUNT.
I have however decided not to let this situation happen to any body any further. In case I do not receive a proper Explanation in Writing/Email. I shall not hesitate a to report it to concerned authorities at Reserve bank of India. This email for the matter of referring the deficiency to Banking Ombudsman scheme in future be treated as NOTICE to Respective Branch Managers and authorities concerned.
Yours faithfully,
VINEET SHARMA.

I’ve been an ICICI customer for 3 years here in Canada but as of today, no more!
Here is a copy of a letter I sent to their Ombudsman today;
In late February of 2008 I made my RRSP contribution for the 2007 fiscal year. The transaction was completed successfully and so I patiently waited for my tax receipt to arrive so that I could send off my documents to my accountant for the 2007 tax year. A month passed and still no tax receipt!
Last Thursday (April, 3rd) I called ICICI customer service to inquire about my tax receipt and find out why there has been such a long delay in getting it to me. The CSR apologized for the delay and promised me that I would receive my tax receipt via email within 48 hours.
By Tuesday of this week (April, 8th) I still had not received the email so I called again. This time the CSR went over all my information (address, postal code, email address) and verified it was correct (which it was) and said he was “escalating” the matter to the “highest authorities” and promised that I would receive the email within 24 hours.
Twenty four hours passed (April, 9th) and still no email! I called again only to hear the same script being read to me (I know this is so because the CSR actually had to wait for the page to come up on her computer screen before she could reply to my question and her response was identical, word for word, to what I had previously been told). I asked to speak to a supervisor and was denied. I was told the matter was being “escalated” again and that I would simply have to wait another 24.
I am writing you at 6:30 PM today, April 10th, as 24 hours have elapsed again and still no email or receipt! I called again today at 1:30 PM and was put through the same charade! The same response word for word.
THIS IS NOT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! THIS IS CUSTOMER DISSERVICE.
I have had issues with ICICI’s customer service in the past but this is the worst service I have ever received from any bank I’ve ever dealt with.
I will never make my RRSP contribution through ICICI bank in the future and I’m seriously considering closing all my accounts with ICICI. The extra 1/2 percent in interest simply does not cover the time wasted and aggravation of dealing with such lack of customer service!
Just to add insult to injury, While I was on hold waiting for a CSR I heard a recording stating that ICICI Bank was offering a 4.1% interest rate on a 1 year GIC. When I asked about transferring funds from my savings account to a 1 year GIC at that rate I was told that the rate had been changed to 3.9 % in March. That effectively means you’ve been falsely advertising a rate you’re not prepared to honor for a full month!
Enough is enough.
There you have it, My ICICI Bank experience.

Hi
I am presenlt based in New York and had specially visited India to finalise a property in Agra, but POOR customer service, delays in processing, and miscommunication by the ICICI home loan personnals FAILED me to buy the property and leave the decision on my Father-in-law (using POA).
Though I had sent the duly filled application forms ONE month in advance, but till date the loan amount cheque has not been received and in return the AGENTs in agra are not receiving the calls from my father -in- law and even hanging the phone if called from another number.
I had interfaced with following people in Agra and assert to say that they lack professionalism.
1) Mr Atharva Sharma - Branch head, ICICI bank home loans, Sanjay place Agra UP
2) Sumit Khandelwal - Credit manager , ICICI bank home loans, Sanjay place Agra UP
3) Rahul Verma - Agent, ICIC Bank home loans, Sanjay place Agra UP
I have been a customer of ICICI bank for more than 5 years, but this sort of experience in Agra has totally shattered my faith and now feel if the relation needs to continue.

Reg Dues against Credit Card No. 44774685541690009
Dear Sir:
Please refer to your proposal No IBBC/COR/2476/51 dated 18.3.2007 offering to settle dues at Rs 58,000/- as against the amount earlier claimed at Rs 78.973.56 as on 28.1.2008. In fact nothing is due from me, rather some amounts are due from you. But even for this so termed generous proposal the language and wording of the letter is not only insulting to any customer but also reflects the lack of even an iota of common sense, because without looking to the large scale criminalities indulged into by ICICI Lombard itself, you are time and again expressing your large generosity of spirit in allowing the so termed huge rebate of Rs 20,000/- and putting up misplaced conditions. Because being % commission agents in the amounts recovered, your first and last interest is only to terrify and threaten customers, and extract heavy amounts so you can earn more commissions.
Besides, this letter IBBC/COR/2476/51 dated 18.3.2007 which was kept being forcefully withheld by your Mr. Rana and given a copy only after prolonged heated discussions at various levels right up to Chandigarh, is a mockery because the letter is not on the Bank’s letter head, or carries a rubber stamp, does not indicate the branch or postal address, or telephone numbers or even designation of or copy of Authority Letter of Manpreet Singh. It is a scrap of paper. A fresh copy of the same duly rectified be sent. Yet again, the bank is vigorously with holding from me copy of my Savings Account No ?? statement since December 2006 and creating hurdles for me to arrive at the final amounts withdrawn against the credit card from this account.
This rebate of Rs 20,000/- does not reflect in full the wrong and excessive charges unlawfully debited to my Credit Card. In the first place I only provided details of my two sons to to ICICI Lombard to obtain detailed proposal, but ICICI Lombard straight away issued two policies, which were refused and surrendered, and only against repeated requests both policies were cancelled within less than 3 months on 28.3.2007 and even after repeated requests for refunds of the excess amounts charged ICICI Lombard never responded.
The reason for immediate refusal for the Insurance policies was the flood of lot many and excessive charges being debited and unlawfully extracted from my credit card like huge Rs 1533.80 EMI Principal debited on 21.12.2006 as also EMI Interest of Rs 302.62 for what ? The amount payable monthly was only 301.87 i.e. Rs. 7245/ 24 months = Rs 301.87 Why debit charges interest unlike in all LIC and other insurance companies, interests are never chargeable on monthly, or other periodic instilments.
If ICICI Lombard do not cancel policies around 3 months it was certainly not fault of mine, but of ICICI Lombard only. Then why damage me with all of the charges, service charges, interests on interests and what not ? Not resting with these frauds, even against both policies cancelled on 28.12.2006 ICICI Lombard illegally kept on further EMI Principal and EMI Interests charges but also started debiting for 6 policies with consequent Service Charges etc in January, February, March, 2007. Both policies were at last cancelled on 28.3.2007 but without giving rebate for the amounts debited and collected from day one or any amount whatsoever.
Again even after canceling both policies ICICI Lombard kept on unabated bombarding charges and collecting from my Credit Card amounts for the months of April, May and June 2007. But the height of criminality reached when long after the policy was cancelled on 28.3.2007, in June alone the ICICI Lombard bombarded my credit car with 13 EMI.s and 11 EML Interest charges amounting to Rs 50304. 31 EMI Principal, and Rs 1334.60 EMI Interest and together with service charge etc the amount criminally debited to my account in June alone ran to 64415.50 closing balance minus 10579.97 = Rs 64415.50 as reflected in the statement itself. And your Mr Rana and Ravi Gupta continue to insist for payment of Rs 58,000 /- with threatening postures.
I insist on you to prove concusively that I ordered for any of the 3 EMI.s and 11 EML you have criminally dumped on me and know adamentally insist on me to pay up.
Looking to all these wrong. excessive and criminal charges, and looking to the adamant attitude & insistance for payment of Rs 58,000/- it is disgusting to discuss matters with your Mr Rana or Mr Ravi Gupta or others who brazenly and blatantly insist that the amount as shown in the statement is payable under all circumstances they threaten they have lot many ways to extract the amounts. as is also visible from two dull-witted legal notices from Amardeep Singh Sukhija 23.7.2007 and Sandeep Suri 8.2.2008 were ignored. Both notices presupposes that only the ICICI Lombard as the most pious instead of the and acted like Mafia’s dens or goons themselves fully knowing the repeated and heavy penalties and fines imposed and reprimands and warnings from Supreme and High courts in India. Both of these threats termed as legal notices were ignored. You are fully aware of the dirtiest reputation ICICI Bank is held in public, and you can refresh your memory if you click on internet for Google or Yahoo or any other search engine and check results ICICI + criminals or cheats or crook’s or frauds or thieves or decoits or robbers or whatever else derogatory adjectives and see the results what lacs and crores of banking customers think and shout about you, And state till when the shameless conduct will continue by you people ?
In fact the four amounts actually withdrawn by me i.e., Rs 92/54 on 30.09.2006, + Rs 5,000/- on 18.10.2006 were adjusted on 17.11.2006 with Rs 5,489.96, 10,000/- on 02.11.2006 ) 512.5 on 18.11.2006 were adjusted on 19.12.2006 with Rs 11,701.02 with along with unlawful charges like processing fee, 199.99, manual cash Rs 300/- +300/- as against Rs 75/-, excess charged Rs 649.99 is to be refunded to me. Rest of all of Rs 78.973.56 as on 28.1.2008 is wrongly charged and needs to be set off .because I never accepted any of two insurance policies. Even a casual look at the statement will show that after 18.11.2006, with nil balance due from me, there is not even a single withdrawal but only illegal charges dumped on me.
Hope better sense shall prevail and it is requested that fresh statement of account with statement of savings account be furnished be furnished detailing the final amount lawfully due - not as per your senseless arguments - to either of us for final adjudication. Study the above facts carefully, and take this as legal notice and respond within 15 days failing which I shall get the matter adjudicated through RBI, Banking Ombudsman, Insurance Ombudsman, Consumer Forum or law courts at my option, as also go to the national Press and TV Media,
as also take up matters with the High Court and Bar Council against the two advocates why their Bar Licenses be not cancelled for sending out illegal threats and calling names in the name of so termed Legal Notices without studying the vase, all the while knowing full well the criminalities the ICICI bank is known for all over. One Advocate had the audacity to send copy of his notice illegally to Senior Superintendent of Police knowing full well the legal options available to him, Copy is being sent to SSP Ambala to check these white collar goons.
